Why ItchyCody?

We adopted Sophie - a mix of many things, but mostly Doodle - as a puppy. She had food issues from an early age and we worked with our vet through a variety of food tests to attempt to identify and eliminate reactive ingredients. At its best, she was comfortable but still barfed a few times a week. She had no skin, ear or other allergy issues - but we could tell she was uncomfortable, we just didn't know what else we could do.

After fostering for years, we foster-failed with Cody - a "senior" block headed Golden Retriever. He came to us with skin issues, hotspots all over and persistent ear infections. In his first twelve months with us he was in to our vet 15 separate times for ear infections. We tried all the therapies, as well as food testing. Even hydrolyzed foods did not help him. We escalated to our local doggie dermatology specialist, who could only offer lifetime medication. There had to be a better answer.

By this point Sophie was 7 and Cody was 8. We found the Ucari pet allergy test kit through our local independent pet food store, Barking Dog Bakery and Feed. Within a week, we had results back for both Cody and Sophie that made it clear exactly what the problem was - food allergies, to ingredients common to nearly all foods.

Now that we knew what was causing Cody and Sophie's problems we had to find a food they could both eat. To do that we pulled together the ingredients of every pet food on the market, giving us the ability to filter, score and find foods that were safe for both of them. The improvement was near-immediate. Cody's ear infections are gone. We have been able to wean Cody off his meds. Sophie's barfing has stopped. Energy and Quality of Life are way up for both dogs.

ItchyCody.com is our way of spreading the word and sharing the incredible outcomes we've had with the world. Pet allergy testing works.
